Navigating Legal Issues During the Pandemic | Guest Jeff Simpson, Attorney

The pandemic has impacted every area of our lives, including the legal system. Whether you're navigating postponed court cases, child support or considering divorce, it's understandable if you're feeling stressed or anxious.

On this episode of Better Together, I'm talking with attorney Jeff Simpson about how the virus crisis has affected your legal proceedings. This is a helpful conversation, especially if you're feeling like your case might get lost in the system.

There's hope and help in this informative and compassionate conversation. Jeff will tell you what you need to know and how you can stay proactive until our court systems gets moving again.

During our interview emphasized a few helpful thoughts that you might find helpful:

1. Just because things seems silent, doesn't mean that your case is forgotten.
2. The courts are doing what they can, as they can, but they are committed to protecting the safety of the public and court officers, too.
3. Stay in contact with your attorney if there are concerns that arise around difficulties with estranged or former spouses.

What a Divorced Woman Needs to Heal with Rebecca Mitchell

What a Divorced Woman Needs to Heal with Rebecca Mitchell

Have you gone through a divorce? If you are desperate for encouragement and hope without blame and shame, Barb Roose and her guest, Rebecca Mitchell as they discuss the keys to healing after divorce.

As Rebecca says," Brokenness is a stage, not an identity." God can heal you from this devastating experience. We talk about the "grenade" devastation of divorce, why people are so judgmental and the key elements to healing.

After 25 years of marriage, Rebecca ended up suffering through an unwanted divorce. She fought for years to save her marriage, but things didn't turn out as she'd hoped. Like most women going through divorce, Rebecca felt the shame, guilt, loneliness, anger and all of the "what if's."

Perhaps you can relate.

For Rebecca, feeling stuck is what pushed her to prayer and asking God for healing. As she immersed herself in God's truth about her and remembered that she was lovable and worthy.

In her book, From Broken Vows to Healed Hearts, Rebecca identifies the keys to healing as:

  • Engaged community
  • Biblical Self-Care
  • Compassionate Reflective Practices

Rebecca wrote her book to help other women experience God's healing after divorce. This unique book covers topics like depresion, lonliness, forgiveness and even joy. Each of the twelve chapters includes five days of devotionals and journaling questions. Women can do the book alone or in a group.

"Be patient with the time that recovery takes, to be community to community, and, above all, to seek God."
